Neuromas are an inflammation in the nerve of the foot that is caused by foot abnormalities such as hammertoes, flat feet, and high arch feet. Patients usually describe it as a sharp, burning pain that starts in the toes and shoots up into the foot. Treatments that we offer for the neuromas are anti-inflammatory medication, custom orthotics and also injections to help alleviate the inflammation around the nerve. In some instances where these treatments do not work, we can also perform a minor surgical procedure to remove a portion of the inflamed nerve to help alleviate the pain the patients are experiencing. If the symptoms sound familiar, please come into Northeastern Foot and Ankle where we’d love to treat you and get you back up on your feet.
